Superb Canadian Resort Offers End-Of-The-World Experience, Elegance

Hard by the Cumberland Straits in Nova Scotia is one of the world’s premier golf and spa resorts.

Known to many Canadians because its founder is also the creator of Tim Horton’s Coffee, Fox Harb’r resort offers a superb 18-hole golf course, high-end spa and first rate food at surprisingly affordable prices.

Although the Canadian dollar has reached parity with the American dollar, the resort is a dream vacation for those seeking a truly end-of-the-world experience.

While just two hours from Halifax by car, the facility creates the illusion of being alone in the world and at the same time having all of the amenities of a world-class hotel and resort.

With detached housing hosting no more than six couples in each building with fireplaces, Jacuzzis and classic room service touches, Fox Harb’r is also an excellent place for business conferences.

For travelers coming to Halifax airport via commercial airline, the resort has a specially fitted out bus with drinks and refreshments to make the two hour trip most enjoyable.

Fox Harb’r also boasts an all weather air strip of its own.

For Wink and Barbara McKinnon, a suburban New York couple on a recent extended Canadian golfing vacation in their own private plane, the resort offered a welcome opportunity to fly in, play two rounds of golf, sample the cuisine and fly out with little fuss or bother.

Business groups seeking to combine recreation with education, the fully equipped resort has a host of amenities, not the least of which is a unique lodge where all activities can be combined and the group never needs to leave the building.

Fox Harb’r has a 18-hole golf course that reminded McKinnon of Pebble Beach with its ocean front holes and hazards.  Among its recent guests was former US President Bill Clinton.

Another feature of the resort is the staff, which is friendly, helpful and anxious to please.

The topping on the cake is the food that is gourmet quality and unstinting.
