Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company Announces the Return of "Luggageless Travel"

For guests of many Ritz-Carlton Hotels traveling by air to destinations around the world, a new service helps avoid on-board carry-on restrictioins.

Guests will no longer have to choose whether to risk stashing liquids and gels into checked luggage, or dashing to the pharmacy at their destination to pick up all the personal care items currently banned  by new rules from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

"Luggageless Travel," a service first introduced after 9/11, is being brought back as a program available for guests who stay at the same Ritz-Carlton at least four times a month.

To take advantage of "Luggageless Travel," frequent road warriors may leave their suitcase at their hotel, upon check out. Items needing dry cleaning or laundry will be taken care of by the hotel staff, then stored until the guest returns for their next visit.

Any personal care items needed will be provided by the hotel, in accordance with guest requests. "When our frequent guests return for their next stay, everything will be hung in the closet, stored in the bathroom, and they will have no concerns about how to pack or what to pack," said Paul Westbrook, senior vice president, brand and product development for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company.

The cost to guests for "Luggageless Travel" will be the usual laundry/valet charges which apply and any special request personal care items will be replenished, with the cost charged to the guest upon check-out.

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. of Chevy Chase, Md., (USA) currently operates 61 hotels in the Americas, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Over 20 projects are under development around the globe with hotel openings planned for Moscow, Ireland, and two in Beijing over the next year. T

he Ritz-Carlton is the only service company to have twice earned the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, which recognizes outstanding customer service.
